3. How does mindfulness practice affect fatigue, insomnia, and other conditions?


Kathi J. Kemper

Kathi Kemper, MD, MPH is the Director of the Ohio State University Center for Integrative Health and Wellness and Professor of Pediatrics. She has over 45 years’ experience practicing relaxation response, 40 years practicing yoga, and 15 years’ experience teaching a variety of skills to health professionals. She completed formal training with the University of Massachusetts Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program as well as the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics course in Clinical Hypnosis and Guided Imagery. She has over 20 years’ experience using guided imagery with patients and over 10 years’ experience teaching children and adolescents to use biofeedback. Her online training programs have provided Continuing Education credit to more than 20,000 health professionals.


  1. Describe the effects of mindfulness on stress and pain.
  2. Describe the effects of mindfulness on fatigue, insomnia, and other clinical conditions.
  3. Introduce patients to daily mindfulness practices like breathing, eating, and walking.
  4. Engage in self-reflection to assess how practicing eating and walking meditation affects one's own sense of mindfulness and resilience.

Online Module

When completing the on-line module you will be presented with learning objectives, brief cases, questions for reflection (not scored), and interactive lessons with hyperlinks to engage you along the way. Once you complete the lessons, you will be presented with the Module Evaluation and then the Post Test (which requires a score of 70%), followed by the opportunity to print your Continuing Education Certificate. Modules remain available for your future reference once you have completed them.
